"Consciousness Expansion - Phase 05": This is the 8th part of my epic series revolving around the building, mostly by myself, of an extension onto my house, the primary purpose of wch was to roughly double the size of my (M)Usic Rm to enable fitting in most of my instruments.  This covers April, May, & June - what I'm roughly thinking of as the Spring of 2021.  The main building involved was the finishing of the (M)Usic Rm interior & the porch & most of the weatherizing...

"Rabies Shot PSA": It's been an ongoing preoccupation of mine to try to stimulate people to think outside of the channels that external forces continually try to herd them into.  Ever since what I call the "PANDEMIC PANIC" began I've questioned whether what I call the "Monolithic Narrative", or ANY single narrative, can be trusted as an absolutely objective descriptor of 'reality'.  The answer for myself is obvious: NO.  One of the most intensive "PEER...

"Consciousness Expansion - Phase 4: The Winter of 2021": In October, 2020, the process of adding an extension onto my house was begun by someone I hired.  That didn't work out so by December I was working on it by myself.  For the purposes of this movie, I'm calling January, February, & March "The Winter of 2021" & showing what I got done during that time.  It wasn't exactly easy for me & 5 months later I'm still at it.  Nonetheless, substantial progress can...

"Consciousness Expansion Kenny & tENT": I've known Kenny Haney since 1999 when he was a teenager.  We met through anarchist activism.  We didn't start playing together until 2008 when he joined HiTEC (Histrionic Thought Experiment Collective), my Pittsburgh-based chamber orchestra.  He had a knack for Klezmer-influenced Bb clarinet.  We collaborated quite a bit over the ensuing 11 years.  However, he developed a taste for Old Timey music, something I have limited interest in,...

"Vintage Human Race": Every summer in Schenley Park in Pittsburgh there's a "Vintage Grand Prix", an old car race.  A few years ago, one part of the route, Serpentine Drive, was apparently damaged during the grading in preparation for the race.  It's been closed for driving thru ever since, the damaged enclosure wall for the Drive unrepaired.  In 2021, Jersey Walls were put on the Drive, presumably to enable reopening it for the race.   As a 67 year old I think I qualify...

"Consciousness Expansion - Phase 03": My mom died on December 30, 2019, & I inherited enough money to consider building an extension on my house.  I tried to find an affordable builder to do the job & failed.  I finally found a neighbor to do it cheaply enough.  He said he could build the external wood structure in 3 weeks.  He couldn't.  After 7 weeks of hiring him I felt forced to resort to finishing the job myself.  "Phase 03" is of my 1st month working...

"Get with the program.": I've been preoccupied lately with how the priorities of simplified computer data processing have gone from being something supposedly intended to help humanity do less work into something that now is used to sculpt humanity instead.  The obvious case in point for me personally being that I 1st started writing my name as "tentatively, a convenience" in 1975 & then changed it to "tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE" in 1979.  Over the years,...

"School of Negativity Painting 02: Impossible Traces": In March, 2020, or thereabouts I started looking for a contractor who would build an addition to my house for a price I could afford.  It wasn't until September that I found someone who claimed to be able to do that.  They started work in mid-October, claiming that they'd be done the 1st phase of construction by the beginning of November.  That didn't come close to happening.  By December I ceased employing them & resorted...

"Artificial Unintelligence"  Perhaps it started with Sargon of Akkad in 2300 BC.  There have been so many conquerors.  They all slaughtered in the interest of homogenizing humanity around their cultural dominance.  By the 20th century, the mayhem approached the ability to anihhilate all humans & most other life.  Perhaps tempered by this possibility, the imperialism moved into the cultural sphere more.  Hollywood movies globally ruled the markets.  Fast Food restaurants...

"The Ticket that Exploded Who Unit? rehearsal January 18, 2020": When I was 15, probably in the summer of 1969, I heard the band Soft Machine's song "Hope for Happiness" on Baltimore rock radio & loved it.  As I recall, most Baltimore radio was abysmal so I found Soft Machine to be of exceptional quality.  It wasn't until perhaps 5 years later that I realized that the band had gotten their name from a William S. Burroughs novel.  I read the book & was astounded. ...

"The Ticket": For something like the last 15 years I've wanted to start a Usical Group (note that I DON'T USE THE WORD 'band') called "The Ticket That Exploded".  When I was 15 years old, 51 years ago in 1968 or thereabouts, I 1st heard the music of a band called "The Soft Machine", whose song "Hope for Happiness" played on a rock radio station in Baltimore, where I grew up.  I loved it.  I still love & listen to their earlier music to this day. ...

"Morse Code": Some people call the telegraph the '1st electronic instrument' — yes, before the Teleharmonium, before the Theremin, before the Ondes Martenot, before the Trautonium, before the Moog there was the Telegraph.  Some might balk at calling it a musical instrument since it wasn't made for that purpose but it did involve electricity that, in some versions, produced sound.  The history of telegraphy is more complex than many may realize insofar as it went through many...

“Taking care of Business”: For decades I’ve been referring to what I call “reality maintenance traps”: basically things that one feels like one has to do in order to persevere, to survive — thusly ‘maintaining one’s reality’.  A more prosaic way of expressing this is “Taking care of Business”.  I own a house & a car & find myself in the position of having to maintain so that my life doesn’t collapse around me.  Obviously, I could get rid of the car but I...
